Trupanion offers pet insurance policies for dogs and cats. Their premiums are set at the time of enrollment, and remain at that level for the life of your pet.
Their website states that premium adjustments may be made as a result of the “inflationary cost of veterinary medicine”, but not due to the age of your pet.
Your choice of deductible, and the age of your pet at enrollment time, determine your premiums. Their approach is detailed in the comparison tool provided on their website for some of the other popular pet insurance companies.
Our standard disclaimer:
With any pet insurance policy, be sure you read and understand what is, and is not, covered by the policy. If a policy does not specifically state a condition is covered, there’s always a chance that it is not. Know your rights and procedure (if any) to appeal a determination.
Keep in mind that an injury or treatment that is “related” to an excluded condition can sometimes be deemed an excluded condition. Ideally, you would like a list of covered conditions to eliminate any question of what will be reimbursed.
