The Delta Society has provided more details as to why they have banned their service animals participating in the Pet Partners Program from eating raw diets.
The additions to their position explanation on the website provide more support attribution for the reasons behind the decision. They have provided links to reference articles used to support the decision, and more information concerning the type of pathogens that are causes of concern.
The additional information is welcome. It supports one side of a very controversial position. To the Delta Society’s credit, they acknowledge the controversy and defend their decision out of an abundance of caution.
While we do not agree with their decision, we respect their position and plan to work with other proponents of raw feeding to provide evidence which will lead to a change in policy.
