Think Local, a collection of locally owned businesses, had its official launch reception last night at Wine World. The event saw the attendance of more than 150 fiercely independent business owners and supporters, all determined to encourage area residents to support local businesses.
Seattle City Council member Richard Conlin spoke briefly about the importance of local ventures, particularly in the current economy. He reminded us all that every dollar spent at local businesses typically stays in the community rather than being sent off to out of state locations. As the Think Local website points out, each dollar can generate two to four times more benefits in our communities when spent with local businesses.
It was gratifying to hear our venue host for the evening, David from Wine World, address the importance of local businesses supporting each other as well. The new website for Think Local, designed by Web Collective, was unveiled at the meeting, and some of the unsung heros behind the project’s launch were introduced.
If you’re reading this, you’re most likely a client of Smiley Dog, and we sincerely appreciate your continued support. We encourage you to continue to Think Local and consider some of the other fine businesses who have made the commitment to support the community. We look forward to meeting and helping to support more as well!
