The latest news from Solid Gold is the announcement that the Klub Solid Gold Frequent Buyer Program is being discontinued at the end of this month. The announcement dated April 10, 2015 offers 2 weeks notice before the change goes into effect.
This is an unfortunate and unexpected development which comes on the heels of the company announcing new bag designs, new formula introductions this spring and a refreshed marketing campaign.
The decision to discontinue the Klub Solid Gold Frequent Buyer Program was made because of financial considerations. The company feels that funds which have supported this program would be better spent on different types of marketing and support.
To their credit, Solid Gold is making provisions for those individuals who have been participating in the program but have not yet earned their free bag.
There is a narrow window available to preserve your benefits
The timing on this could be better, but for the next week we can help you climb through the rapidly closing window. Just contact us with information about your completed card or card in progress and we’ll make arrangements to get it submitted before the deadline.
All cards, completed and partially completed, must be received by the company no later than April 30, 2015. This means they must be submitted to Smiley Dog or the retailer where you purchase Solid Gold immediately. It then becomes the retailer’s responsibility to ensure the company receives them by the April 30 deadline.
Completed cards submitted before the deadline will receive a free bag of food as they have in the past.
Individuals submitting partially completed cards will receive coupons for future purchase(s) “in proportion to the card’s completion.”
Again, all cards must be received at Solid Gold no later than April 30.
While we’re sorry to see the program discontinued, we certainly understand the dilemma. Frequent Buyer programs have slowly been disappearing from many brands along with samples.
Cost has been cited as the reason behind both, although it remains to be seen whether the short term savings to the companies will outweigh the longer term drawbacks. There are still a fair number of companies offering these programs, and they can make the difference between sticking with a brand or switching.
Do yourself a favor and don’t lose out on the benefits you have earned by turning your Solid Gold card in as soon as possible- certainly no later than April 25.
That’s next week- no procrastinating allowed!
