Magic for a Month!

Aladdin polished his lamp. Jeannie folded her arms and gave a quick nod of her head. Dorothy just clicked those ruby red slippers together and made a wish.  If only we could use one of these magical moves to conjure the services of a trusted professional for a month. It’s a nice premise, but not the way life usually works.

Until now. A click of the mouse appears to have done it in real life.

We didn’t quite conjure Joe out of thin air. He appeared as a result of a listing on eBay that caught the attention of my partner, Barbara Sanderson, owner of Glass Gardens NW. The listing read “Fit, Healthy and Energetic 49 Year Old Male Travel Companion, Butler or Slave”. His objective included “interesting opportunities to work with smart people on cool projects to do good in the world”.

That sounded good to us. We both know Joe, so we took a chance on magic.

We think Joe listed himself on eBay with dreams of being whisked away to some exotic location to fulfill the wishes of some wealthy individual with projects far more exciting and challenging than ours. In the end, he ended up with two local business owners eager to tap his marketing and business knowledge.

Barb and I will be sharing Joe’s expertise for the month of August. Our list of projects is growing longer by the day. We’re looking forward to getting an outside perspective on our businesses and a jump on the never ending project lists.

Joe is an intelligent and energetic person who will be a welcome presence in our businesses. We would never be able to afford someone of his caliber at “regular rates”, and are thrilled with this unexpected bit of good fortune. We look forward to having Joe share our playpens for the next month. It holds some bewitching possibilities, don’t you think?
