Topical Flea Treatment products safety study
The EPA has announced it will be studying the safety of topical, spot-on flea and tick treatments.
This action follows an increasing number of reports of adverse reactions to dogs and cats using the products. The reactions ranged from mild to moderate skin irritation and stomach upset in most cases. Some major illness and deaths have been also been reported.
The ASPCA recently released a press release indicating cats are more likely to be harmed by the improper use of these products than dogs.
If you choose to use these products, always follow label directions.
