The word from Champion Pet Foods, manufacturers of Acana and Orijen brands, is that Acana Grasslands is “currently unavailable”.
Grasslands has been backordered for the past 6 weeks. Initial inquiries to both our supplier and the manufacturer were met with a confirmation that the food was unavailable, but no further information was forthcoming.
While details behind the reason for the backorders remain unclear, it appears that it is related to a problem at the border. Champion confirmed that there remain some details to be worked out with the FDA.
This has happened previously with Canadian products including other foods and treats. In the majority of cases, the product is ready to ship and is held at the border until all paperwork “is in order”. These delays can be a matter of days or months, depending on how the wheels of bureaucracy turn.
